Stephen BlankStephen Blank (Independent Non-Executive Chairman)
Stephen qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1977 after obtaining a first class degree in Mathematics at Oxford. After a period in industry, he returned to the profession, joining Binder Hamlyn where he became a partner specialising in corporate finance. He joined Swinton Insurance as Group Planning and Finance Director, leaving upon its acquisition by Royal Sun Alliance. He then began acting as part-time finance director or non-executive director for a small portfolio of SME’s. Since then several of these have progressed from start-up to exit via fund-raising including an AIM listing.
Paul Grasske Paul Grasske (Chief Executive).
After graduating with a degree in Mathematics at the University of York, Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Grant Thornton where he specialised in small business advisory services. Following a period as finance director of a construction company and having held several positions in the accountancy profession he joined the board of Micro Materials in 1996. He has successfully managed the company’s growth for the last seven years. He joined the Millbrook Board on the acquisition of Micro Materials in September 2004.
John EcclesJohn Eccles (Commercial Director, Millbrook Instruments Limited).
After obtaining a degree at Cambridge in Natural Sciences and a PhD from UMIST in Surface Science (specialising in SIMS) he worked as Product Manager for VSW Scientific Instruments for a number of years. During this time he also completed an MBA at the Manchester Business School. He then operated as a freelance scientific design and marketing consultant. In 1995 he was one of the founders of MIL and has worked with the company since.
Peter VohralikPeter Vohralik (Technical Director, Millbrook Instruments Limited).
Having obtained a degree in Physics at Warwick University, Peter returned there to carry out postgraduate research after a period of study at Cambridge. Peter has spent the major part of his career in surface science, working on the technical development and installation of a broad range of ultra high vacuum surface analysis systems. He joined MIL at the start of 2003 after working at Thermo VG Scientific for 19 years. During that time he was involved in key projects in ion and electron optics. In September 2003 he joined the Millbrook Board to replace Tim Steele as Technical Director (see below.)

Malcolm FortnamMalcolm Fortnam (Independent Non-Executive Director, Chairman of Audit and Remuneration Committees).
Malcolm is an experienced PLC director in executive and non-executive roles. His experience covers a wide range of manufacturing businesses. An economist by training, Malcolm has been involved in international markets with particular emphasis on business strategy and mergers and acquisitions. He spent nine years with the RMC Group PLC in a corporate planning role and later was Corporate Development Director of Dobson Park Industries PLC, a substantial specialist engineering company. He joined the Millbrook Board in October 2002.
